About Greg & Jean
Greg and Jean Ishmael began ministering together as volunteer youth pastors while in college in the 1970’s. Now with over 40 years ministry experience (30 professionally), Greg and Jean are excited to use their experience and passion for the training of pastors and leaders through Global Training Network.
Greg served at Overlake Christian Church in Redmond, Washington as Pastoral Care and Missions Pastor. He then served for 14 years as Lead Pastor at Christ the King Church in Snohomish. Together, Greg and Jean have led over 30 short term trips to seven different countries around the world. In the local church, their desire has been to encourage believers to develop a biblical worldview and get outside their comfort zone by involvement in both local and international missions.
An area of special interest to the Ishmael’s is aging out initiatives. As older orphans and foster children “age out” of care, the trends are heartbreaking: trafficking, homelessness, substance abuse, crime and incarceration await many who lack adequate support networks. The Church is called to step into that gap. Greg and Jean see the value in training both domestic and international pastors and other church leaders in becoming lifelong church and community support networks.
Greg and Jean also have a heart for young ministry families and love to share their experience and wisdom in the areas of self-care, ministering to your own family, and preventing burnout.
The greatest joy of Greg and Jean’s life is their family. They have three sons, two daughters in law, and five grandchildren. Michael and his wife, Angela, work with Samaritan’s Purse, where Michael is the NW Regional Director, Operation Christmas Child. Jonathan is a detective and along with his wife, Jenny, are college leaders in their local church. Stephen is the Founder and Director of Two Feet Project, a non-profit empowering marginalized youth and creating stronger communities in both Nakuru, Kenya and Seattle, WA. Greg and Jean make their home in Bothell, Washington.
Greg and Jean are excited to join Global Training Network! They are committed to obeying God’s call on their lives and desire to make the biggest Kingdom impact possible in this season of life by working toward GTN’s social justice missions statement: “To equip indigenous leaders throughout the majority world to address issues of suffering within their cultures by bringing God’s mercy and justice to bear upon the most vulnerable.”
